WELCOME TO THE S.A. MEDICAL FOUNDATION

With grounding in its distinguished history, the Medical Foundation looks ahead to a bright future in supporting San Antonio's largest industry. This website introduces a new feature of the Foundation to keep medical professionals, community leaders and interested persons informed about the work of the San Antonio Medical Foundation as it serves an important asset, the South Texas Medical Center.

Employing about one-seventh of the San Antonio workforce, the healthcare and bioscience industry has a major impact not only on the physical health of the community but also on its economic health. The South Texas Medical Center plays a central role in that arena because it offers research, education, and treatment services that together employ more that 26,000 people. The economic impact of the Medical Center is further enhanced because the jobs there pay approximately 20% more than the average wage in San Antonio as a whole.

As stewards of assets that play such an important role in the community, the San Antonio Medical Foundation pledges to continue working to improve health care, advance biomedical science and enhance the well-being of San Antonions. Together we can continue the important work started nearly 60 years ago by people of vision and tenacity.
